Bulls Head Bob March 2026. Thankyou. The Orchestra Dave Morgan

Hello my lovelies,     Thankyou very much for your correspondence wishing my head a speedy recovery.  It means a lot to me.   There have been other twists and turns and ups and downs but I'm sure you've heard enough of my problems.

THE ORCHESTRA - Dave Morgan

So I imagine that most of you have heard of The Orchestra whose members were part of ELO or ELO Part 2.  I do not normally mention them or any of the other bands associated with ELO as they are covered by the ELO Network.  This month I shall make an exception.

In the world of tribute bands there are enough "ELO Alikes" to fuck around with your head but at least these guys have been in the real deal.   They are about to go off on their Spring Tour starting in New York and have a fresh face in the line up, that face belonging to Dave Morgan who was in ELO and played their last live gig on the TIME tour.  He was probably in every line up of most groups in Birmingham during the 60's too including one in which we both served.  Dave was 8 years older than I, and still is.  So I got to play the young and attractive sailor and he was the boiler stoker.  Whoop whoop.

During the past few years he and his outfit "Morganisation" have been dithering about picking up the occasional small gig at village halls and the like.   So I am honestly pleased that he has returned to a more appropriate setting, surrounded by other quality musicians and singers on proper stages.  Here he is, third pair of glasses from the right.

Have a good time Dave.

NEIL SEDAKA

Well there goes another solid gold songwriter who worked along side Goffin and King in the legendary Brill Building in New York. Churning out the late 50's and early 60's.   "Breaking up is hard to do" being one of his biggest hits.

Take Care Folks,  the President of Piss has just started another war.

Love the ones your with

Bob.

Have a Hug.

Bulls Head Bob. Feb 2026. Bobs Head. JOHNNY NEAL RIP. LEE STEVENS RIP.

 Hello Brummies.

Update.    Well I'm half way back to doing the blog.  My head injury is healing up, thank goodness, but I'm still feeling weary and un-energetic, even mentally. My worst regret is that my hair, that I had been growing for nearly 2 years to donate to cancer sufferers was cut off.  Nevertheless I intend to get through the downside of it all and get back to my sometimes, irreverent look at the Brumbeat days that I enjoyed so much.  However there always seems such bad news to report on and this month features a couple of guys who were early Brumbeat heroes who have succumbed to age.

JOHNNY NEAL.   RIP.

Johnny Neal sadly passed away last week at the tender age of 90!!   He was known as NOGA to his mates and was still full of enthusiasm for music till the day he died.    It's the only way to go.   He is featured on the 6 of the Best page on BRUMBEAT.NET where his story is condensed.  He was successful in the UK and in South Africa where he was a real star and drove around in his Rolls Royce doing residencies at swanky hotels.  We corresponded quite a bit and I will miss having a laugh with him.   God Bless Old Nog xxx

LEE STEVENS.

LEE STEVENS (Norm Crandles)  RIP.  Along with Noga LEE STEVENS AND THE SATELLITES , were regulars on the BRUMBEAT Circuit until he packed his suitcases and emigrated to Canada where he lived out his days working in the Canadian Education system.    I had featured his story in several blogs throughout the years and he is also listed on the band BIO page on BRUMBEAT.NET.   We corresponded for some years until he ran out of stories .   I managed to get him and Noga together and he stayed with him and Maggie Neal on a visit to Birmingham. Sad,y he passed away in 2013

He was a die hard fan of Aston Villa and I know he would be so proud to see how they have reached the greatness they deserve.  Goodbye old friend.  Sweet dreams.  UTV.

FINALLY

I have an appt with the consultant surgeon tomorrow to ascertain if my recovery is on schedule.  Fingers crossed, I shall be firing on all cylinders in time for the next blog....hang on in there my blog friends I Shall Return.
